Whole-house redesign · Saratoga, California
A whole-house redesign spanning interior, structural and exterior improvements.
The scope reached beyond the photographed kitchen and bathrooms to include the bedroom and other interiors, structural modifications, and exterior improvements—all planned as one cohesive home.

Project overview
Designed as one home—not a collection of isolated remodels.
This was a true whole-house redesign. The work included the kitchen, expanded living and dining areas, three bathrooms and the bedroom, together with structural modifications and exterior improvements.
The available photography highlights the kitchen, shared living spaces and bathrooms. The bedroom and exterior work are not pictured here, but they formed part of the broader coordinated design scope.
Within the photographed spaces, the redesign improved circulation, storage, natural and layered light, ventilation and day-to-day function while maintaining a cohesive contemporary character throughout the home.
Design strategy
One design direction carried throughout the property.
Across the interior, structural and exterior scope, the project was planned as a unified home rather than a series of unrelated room updates. In the photographed spaces, that approach is visible in improved circulation, useful storage, layered natural and electric light, and a restrained contemporary palette.
Removing the kitchen wall connected cooking, dining and living areas. The adjoining spaces were enlarged, and a raised cathedral ceiling and paired skylights brought additional volume and daylight.
New kitchen cabinetry, an island and nearby pantry increased storage. Floating vanities, drawers and tall cabinets addressed bathroom storage without making the rooms feel heavy.
The kitchen, shared living areas, bathrooms, bedroom, structural changes and exterior improvements were considered within one whole-house design scope, even where finished photographs are not available.
The kitchen combines bright frameless cabinetry, wood tones, dark leathered granite and a neutral quartzite island.
Kitchen, dining and living
A more open center for cooking and gathering.
The wall between the kitchen and dining area was removed. Enlarged dining and living areas, a raised cathedral ceiling and two four-by-four-foot skylights assembled in one opening changed the scale and daylight of the shared space.
- New white and wood frameless cabinetry, island storage and a nearby pantry
- Two sinks serving preparation and smaller filtered-water needs
- Layered task and ambient lighting, including integrated cabinet lighting
- Electric fireplace and STAS LED picture-lighting system in the living room
A brilliant white and light-gray palette is sharpened by black mosaic accents.
Children’s bathroom
Natural light, double storage and a more open plan.
Removing the wall at the water-closet area enlarged the room and opened it toward the window for daylight and ventilation. A deep bathtub and floating double vanity support the room’s everyday use.
- Luxe White Magnifica polished porcelain with a marble-like appearance
- Floating double-sink vanity with drawers and two tall storage cabinets
- Recessed lighting and a lighted mirror
- Quiet ventilation with humidity and motion sensors
Warm wood cabinetry adds contrast to the guest bathroom’s neutral gray tile palette.
Guest bathroom
A new bathroom planned beside the laundry area.
This room was newly built with an operable skylight, open shower, wall-to-wall floating vanity and tall, deep storage. The design combines multiple tile textures with practical lighting and ventilation.
- Large-format wall tile and textured tile at the shower floor and long shelf
- Wood-finish floating vanity with drawers and tall storage
- Operable skylight, recessed lighting and lighted mirror
- Quiet sensor-controlled ventilation
The primary bathroom uses brilliant white and neutral gray with layered light and floating cabinetry.
Primary bathroom
A larger shower and storage without visual weight.
The primary bathroom was upgraded with a larger shower, a floating vanity with extensive drawers, and additional tall storage opposite the vanity and in the water-closet area.
- Large-format wall tile and textured shower-floor tile
- Polished porcelain continued from walls to the bathroom floor
- Undercabinet, recessed and illuminated-mirror lighting
- Quiet ventilation with humidity and motion sensors
